Yoshimura Shuhou- Tokoname, Japan. (Not an EBPC member - but his grandson is!)

An excellent example of an Oribe glazed oval, by the 1st generation Yoshimura Shuhou of the Shuhou kiln (opened by this artist in 1920's).

This 33.8cm oval was made a few decades ago from a quality light clay, in a wonderful form, with lip to the rim and basal band in relief. The pot is dressed in an exquisite Oribe crystalline green glaze, with fantastic silvery crystal formation and excellent blues. Stamped and hand-signed by the artist.

This is an older pre-loved pot in excellent condition. Yoshimura is now deceased and was one of Tokoname’s leading bonsai ceramists. His works are now increasingly collectible.
