Alex & the EBPC Potters!
Yamaaki – Toshio Kataoka, Tokoname, Japan.
An 38.6cm unglazed rectangular in an exquisite Antique Chinese design, by Toshio Kataoka, of the Yamaaki kiln of Tokoname. Probably the most well known of Tokoname kilns, the Yamaaki kiln operated from 1926 to 2012.
This distinguished rectangular pot has a formal yet elegant design, inspired by a famous Kowatari Chinese design. The graceful incised curves are complimented by a downward 'pinch' to the base of the body at the centre of the pot. The pot also boasts a beautiful rim, and sits on attractive outward feet, with incised curves above. The finish is of a high quality, and the pot enjoys a nice patination forming on the decades old surface.
In excellent condition.
Stamped by the artist.
External measurements (max): 38.6cm x 27.5cm x 8.5cm
Made by Toshio Kataoka, 'Yamaaki', Tokoname, Japan.
Please note: The EBPC is selling this pot on behalf of a client.
