Alex & the EBPC Potters!
Yamaaki – Tokoname, Japan.
An unglazed shohin sized bonsai pot in a formal rectangle design, made by the Yamaaki kiln of Tokoname. Probably the most well known of Tokoname kilns, the Yamaaki kiln operated from 1926 to 2012.
This very attractive Yamaaki production pot has an elegant low profile oval design, created for 'landscape', or distant image tree styles (usually wider than tall), that benefit from a shallow pot. Those style include amongst others: Rock over/on rock, forests, clumps, rafts, and brooms.
The pot is furnished with double basal banding, which aacts to make the pot 'visually' shallower than it really is, to allow extra depth for the tree's roots. The pot sits on elegant recessed 'Neko Ashi', or 'cat feet'.
In excellent condition.
Stamped: 山秋 (Yammaki).
External measurements (max): 35cm x 24cm x 4.7cm
Made by: 'Yamaaki', Tokoname, Japan.
