Alex & the EBPC Potters!
Taisho Era (1912-26) - Watanabe Keizo, Tokoname. Japan.
A stunning antique bonsai in a wonderful hexagonal design, by one of the first bonsai kilns of Tokoname, over 100 years ago.
This fine piece was hand-formed from a quality shudei / purple clay over a hundred years ago, in this formal hexagonal design. A traditional bag-style lip, and recessed feet with attractive carved designs adorn the design. It seems one corner had a small bump during the making process, as can be seen in image 4. In very good condition, the pot has a nice patina build up and a wonderful aged feel.
Stamped by the artist.
Maximum measurements (External): 45cm x 39.5cm x 9.5cm.
Made by: Watanabe Keizo (Taisho Era (1912-26)), Tokoname. Japan.
This pot is being sold on behalf of a client, and will be shipped from the UK - with all of the usual EBPC guarantees!
