Stone Monkey Ceramics -

An outstanding and unique unglazed mokko shaped bonsai pot, expertly formed from a fantastic reddish clay and decorated with carved and sculpted 'ume flowers' designs.

The pot is beautifully made with a reddish-brown clay and is well-formed into this mokko shape, with a slight lip at the rim. Delicately sculpted flowers of the 'ume' or Plum, finished in red, decorate the pot on two fronts (with different directions), with carved ume branches. The piece sits proudly on four Stone Monkey cloud feet and the pot is hand-signed and stamped by the artist. This fine piece is also stamped to the face of the pot (show stamp).

Andrew Pearson's work is highly sought after and he was the first-ever Westener to enter, and to win the Gafu-ten pot contest with his unglazed works.
