Alex & the EBPC Potters!
An outstanding and unique unglazed mokko-shaped bonsai pot, expertly formed from a warm reddish-brown clay and decorated with carved and sculpted 'ume flowers' designs.
The pot is beautifully designed and well-formed in this deeper profile mokko shape, with a slight lip at the rim. Delicately sculpted flowers of the 'ume' or Plum, finished in red, decorate the pot on two fronts (with different directions), with incised ume branches. The piece sits proudly on four cut feet and the artist hand-signed and stamped the pot with both the original Stone Monkey stamp and the new 石猿陶器 stamp. This fine piece is also stamped to the face of the pot (show stamp).
Andrew Pearson's work is highly sought after and he was the first-ever Westener to enter, and to win the Gafu-ten pot contest with his unglazed works.
