This oval is in our opinion a very impressive piece. It has a good depth of 8.5cm, yet visually it appears shallower due to the superbly crafted banding detail throughout the pot. In addition to the band at the base, there is a triple central band in relief, and even the rim has another band stepped into it. These complimentary horizontal lines act to accentuate the 'landscape' feel of the image.

The glaze is equally as impressive, with a warm dark brown which is soften by random areas of lighter brown, which also gives the pot an aged feel.
