SOLD - Kakauzan 角山 (Kakuyuki Watanabe - 4th generation), Tokoname, Japan.Founded in 1887.
A large unglazed oval in a lipped design, by the leading Tokoname kiln 'Kakuzan Toen'.
Expertly made from Tokoname clay with reddish tones to the brown, this piece has some age and patina developing. The bold oval lipped design is simple yet commanding and has a basal band in relief and recessed feet. The pot is in excellent condition, with just one small foot chip to the side, invisible from either front. The pot has a smooth finish and the fine detailing even extends to the underside of the pot.
External measurements: (Max) 49cm (length) x 41.3cm (width) x 9.8cm (height).
