Alex & the EBPC Potters!
SOLD - Englert Keramik (Germany)
A good-sized oval, from the wood-fired kiln of (Gafu-ten 2019) award-winning artist Martin Englert.
Made from a heavily groggy white clay body, and displaying a warm texture and finish, is this superb oval bonsai pot, at a fraction under 40cm. The pot has a humble form, with integrated feet, and true clean lines and curves, together with delightful natural flame signatures resulting in varied organic tones.
The pot is dressed in an Iron and porcelain slip, which give the lighter almost golden tinted hues to the rim. The underside has Englert's signature drainage holes in a geometric design, and each piece is stamped by the maker and numbered.
External measurements: 39.6cm (l) x 32.6cm (w) x 11cm (h) With random flame-signatures
Made by Martin Englert, Germany.

Award-winning artist! **Martin Englert was given the honor of being invited to participate in the prestigious 2019 Gafu-Ten ceramic competition and was awarded the silver medal in the category for painted bonsai pots.**
Englert Keramik bonsai pots are fired in a wood-fired kiln at temperatures of up to 1300°C (2370°F). The beauty of these pots is created by fire, ash and the kiln‘s turbulent atmosphere. The charm of this costly and exhausting technique is the natural beauty of the resulting surfaces. Not surprisingly wood-fired ceramics are deeply rooted in Japanese aesthetics. They are an example of artisanal tradition and the idealized beauty of nature - just like a bonsai.
