Alex & the EBPC Potters!
SOLD - Englert Keramik (Germany)
A magnificent 31cm tall square cascade, with impressive flame-signatures and wonderful, naturally occurring fly ash-glaze towards the rim.
Made from a quality red Iron clay, and fired to over 1300 degrees, in award-winning artist Martin Englert's wood-fired kiln - is this unique square cascade bonsai pot with panache. This large pot sits firmly on four simple yet counterbalancing feet, in their outward sloping design.
The majority of colours are due to the random flame signatures, yet exquisite glaze runs to one front, are the result of heavy fly ask deposits in a well placed, turbulent part of the kiln. The underside has Englert's signature drainage holes in a geometric design, and each piece is stamped by the maker and numbered.
External measurements: 17cm (l) x 17cm (w) x 31cm (h)
Made by Martin Englert, Germany.

Award-winning artist! **Martin Englert was given the honor of being invited to participate in the prestigious 2019 Gafu-Ten ceramic competition and was awarded the silver medal in the category for painted bonsai pots.**
Englert Keramik bonsai pots are fired in a wood-fired kiln at temperatures of up to 1300°C (2370°F). The beauty of these pots is created by fire, ash, and the kiln‘s turbulent atmosphere. The charm of this costly and exhausting technique is the natural beauty of the resulting surfaces. Not surprisingly wood-fired ceramics are deeply rooted in Japanese aesthetics. They are an example of artisanal tradition and the idealized beauty of nature - just like a bonsai.
