SOLD- Englert Keramik (Germany)
Dressed in a fantastic example of the classical Shino glaze, this is a very well made, refined piece, that reflects the delicacy of the glaze.
Cooked in the wood-fired kiln of (Gafu-ten 2019) award-winning artist Martin Englert, and made from a quality white clay body, this shohin rectangle has a relatively simple 'shibui' form, with walls that gently curve out to the rim, and recessed feet. The exquisite Shino glaze is a traditional Japanese glaze rich in Feldspar and offers these warm organic tones of milky white with blushing hints of orange. The underside has Englert's signature drainage holes in a geometric design, and each piece is stamped by the maker and numbered.
External measurements: 16.6cm (l) x 12.7cm (w) x 4.4cm (h)
Made by Martin Englert, Germany.

Award-winning artist! **Martin Englert was given the honor of being invited to participate in the prestigious 2019 Gafu-Ten ceramic competition and was awarded the silver medal in the category for painted bonsai pots.**
Englert Keramik bonsai pots are fired in a wood-fired kiln at temperatures of up to 1300°C (2370°F). The beauty of these pots is created by fire, ash and the kiln‘s turbulent atmosphere. The charm of this costly and exhausting technique is the natural beauty of the resulting surfaces. Not surprisingly wood-fired ceramics are deeply rooted in Japanese aesthetics. They are an example of artisanal tradition and the idealized beauty of nature - just like a bonsai.
