Shunka Seizan

A refined carved rectangle in an enviable glaze by Shunka Seizan.

This piece, which was carved from a solid block of clay, has an excellent form - with incised corners, a lip to the rim, and a basal band in relief. The feet are sculpted with great detail and the pot is finished in an exquisite glaze of white, with Oribe and a lighter green.

Born in 1945, Shunka Seizan is one of the few great artists to carve from a solid block, and to be able to produce such glazes! An excellent collector’s piece. Stamped by the artist.
