Alex & the EBPC Potters!
Motozo, Japan.
A stunning round semi-cascade style pot with detailed carved flowers and patterns by the esteemed artist, Motozo.
A magnificent piece of art. Motozo used a very fine, high-quality, iron-rich shudei clay, with warm tones. The form and clay colour alone are top quality craftsmanship, but the detailed carving is breath-taking. In a fan shaped frame, the main image is of a beautifully detailed flower, with petals leaves. 3 encircled Kanji are also cleverly carved to seamlessly continue on from the background.
Motozo is known for these exquisite carved types of pieces, with incredibly smooth burnished clay finishes. He often uses a darker, almost black kurodei clay, so these shudei pots are quite refreshing.
The underside is hand signed & stamped by the artist. Complete with hand signed & stamped box and cloth.
External measurements: 10.6cm x 7.8m
Made by: Motozo, Japan.
Please note: The EBPC is selling this pot on behalf of a client.
