Koyo - 1st Generation. Aiba Kouichirou; Tokoname, Japan
A rare style and finish of suiban, made by the popular deceased artist, Koichirou Aiba, aka - Koyo.
A great collector’s piece, everything is rare about this one. The low profile multi-faceted shape, the rarer clay for Koyo – dark brown with grog/chamotte, the superb glaze with dark brown and subtle hints of persimmon. A thick, almost textured glaze I have seen by Koyo before ... but a rarer one!
The pot is stamped by the artist, and comes with signed and stamped kiri bako box and stamped turmeric cloth.
External measurements (Max): 24.3cm (length) x 23cm (width) x 3.3cm (height).
Made by: Aiba Kouichirou (Koyo), founder of the Koyo kiln 鴻陽陶園, Tokoname, Japan.
