Alex & the EBPC Potters!
Kamiya Ryuen, Japan. - 2 rare stamps.
A high-quality unglazed pot, handmade by the highly collectable, deceased artist, Kamiya Ryuen.
This elegant piece has a formal round design. With thin walls and a refined build, the pot has a basal band in relief and walls that flare out to the rim. Ryuen’s attention to detail and quality of finish is extraordinary, and the level of refinement speaks for itself. The pot is burnished smooth to the touch and has a wonderful overall aesthetic for shohin conifers.
Ryuen, born in 1929, is celebrated as one of the most proficient ever at making high-quality unglazed shohin pots through the formidable 'kurinuki' technique. Hand-carved from a block of high-quality clay is the epitome of pot building techniques, resulting in a pot with greater structural integrity and strength.
In excellent condition.
Stamped twice by the artist - both rare stamps. Read: 流苑 (Ryuen).
External measurements (max): 10.4cm x 4.7cm.
