A sometsuke painted porcelain rectangle by the celebrated Ito Gekkou.

This magnificent large mame / small shohin-sized pot is well made, being a soft cornered rectangle design with a good planting depth. The pot is decorated in a wonderful sometsuke painting of sansui (land and sea scape) scene. This fine piece has sometsuke (cobalt blue underglaze) paintings with fine brush strokes and wonderful use of negative space. The details are superb. A few decades old, patination is starting to build. Excellent condition.

A great investment and a very useable collector's piece.
