Alex & the EBPC Potters!
Heian Kosen, Japan.
A deceased artist, whose works are now highly collectible, Kosen is famed for his superb glazes. Real name Yoshikazu Hashimoto, ‘Kosen’ was born in 1933 in Kyoto. He was self-taught and is another potter aspiring to the glazes of the great Heian Tofukuji. Originally he used a climbing kiln, until pollution control restrictions. He passed away in 2014.
This beautiful piece is a larger oval for Kosen, with a shallow profile, and is finished in a soft light blue glaze. The glaze has a brown accent to one front, and hints of purple at one end. Stamped by the artist.
External measurements: (Max) 22.3cm (length) x 19.7cm (width) x 8.3cm (height).
