Hayashi Tojaku - 林陶雀, Japan.
A superb unglazed oval, with basket weave carving detail, by the highly regarded Hayashi Tojaku (born 1935, Kyoto.)
This beautifully formed shohin-sized oval was made a few decades ago from a quality clay, in a delicate design. The pot has a basall band in relief and complimentary banding to the rim. The body of this piece is decorated in an intricately carved basket weave pattern, and sits on superb hollow bamboo effect feet. Excellent attention to detail. Stamped by the artist
This is an older but unused pot in excellent condition. Tojaku was a highly celebrated artist, and even his students are award winners (e.g. (Toyosen(豊千) but he is now deceased and his works are increasingly collectible.
