Alex & the EBPC Potters!
GYOUZAN, Nakano Yukizyou, Tokoname, Japan.
A high quality 63cm unglazed bonsai pot in a soft mokko design, by the great Gyouzan of Tokoname.
Before his sad passing recently, Gyouzan was widely recognised as the world's leading living artist for unglazed wares, Nakano Yukizyou is the founder and 1st generation artist of Tokonam'e Gyouzan kin.
This huge 63cm pot has a soft mokko design in a generous depth, and is made from a quality Shidei purple brown clay to this commanding yet elegant form. The pot sits on stepped, slightly outward pointing recessed feet, and has banding to the base, which compliments the lip above. The lip is also finished with a refined raised boarder detail, complimenting the overall 'shibui' design. Time has blessed the pot with the development of a beautiful patination.
Condition: Excellent - No chips or cracks detected on close examination. . Removable hard water marks to feet.
Stamped by the artist.
Maximum measurements (External): 63cm x 49cm x 18.5cm.
