A superior-quality, hand-signed 55.2cm unglazed bonsai pot in a rarer rectangle design, by the great Gyouzan of Tokoname.

Before his sad passing recently, Gyouzan was widely recognised as the world's leading living artist for unglazed wares. Nakano Yukizyou is the founder and 1st generation artist of Tokoname's Gyouzan kin.

This XL sized pot was hand-made from a high quality blend of clays, to this commanding yet elegant form, with soft curves and true lines. The pot sits on stepped, recessed feet, and has bold curved cut corners. Precise banding to the base is reiterated to the upper body, by means of a thick recessed band to the main body of the pot. Over time a beautiful patina has developed.

Condition: Excellent - No chips or cracks detected on close examination.
