Alex & the EBPC Potters!
Englert Keramik (Germany)
With random flame-signatures - from the wood-fired kiln of (Gafu-ten 2019) award-winning artist Martin Englert - is this unique 26cm unglazed rectangular bonsai pot, with a superb iridescent glow to the glaze. The expertly crafted red iron clay body has a rustic and slightly textured finish, formalized by an incised band to the rim and softened by beautifully carved feminine feet.
The pot is dressed in a magnificent salt glaze, which, organically combined in the kiln with the glaze of melted ash deposits, resulting in this wonderful multi-tonal iridescent finish. The underside has Englert's signature drainage holes in a geometric design, and each piece is stamped by the maker and numbered.
External measurements: 26cm (l) x 18.7cm (w) x 7.9cm (h)
Made by Martin Englert, Germany.

Award-winning artist! **Martin Englert was given the honor of being invited to participate in the prestigious 2019 Gafu-Ten ceramic competition and was awarded the silver medal in the category for painted bonsai pots.**
Englert Keramik bonsai pots are fired in a wood-fired kiln at temperatures of up to 1300°C (2370°F). The beauty of these pots is created by fire, ash and the kiln‘s turbulent atmosphere. The charm of this costly and exhausting technique is the natural beauty of the resulting surfaces. Not surprisingly wood-fired ceramics are deeply rooted in Japanese aesthetics. They are an example of artisanal tradition and the idealized beauty of nature - just like a bonsai.
