Alex & the EBPC Potters!
Englert Keramik (Germany)
From the wood-fired kiln of (Gafu-ten 2019) award-winning artist Martin Englert is this nice-sized round semi-cascade, in an elegant and refined design.
Made from a medium iron clay, this piece has gentle curves to the walls, basal band, and ornate recessed, stepped feet with tiny double 'rivet' detail.
This piece is dressed in a porcelain & Iron Slip to the upper body and is salt glazed to the lower body. Due to the kiln positioning in relation to flames, this great piece also has a gloss and a matt side, giving great flexibility for use. The underside has Englert's signature drainage holes in a geometric design, and each piece is stamped by the maker and numbered.
External measurements: 16.7cm (l) x 8cm (h)
Made by Martin Englert, Germany.

Award-winning artist! **Martin Englert was given the honor of being invited to participate in the prestigious 2019 Gafu-Ten ceramic competition and was awarded the silver medal in the category for painted bonsai pots.**
Englert Keramik bonsai pots are fired in a wood-fired kiln at temperatures of up to 1300°C (2370°F). The beauty of these pots is created by fire, ash and the kiln‘s turbulent atmosphere. The charm of this costly and exhausting technique is the natural beauty of the resulting surfaces. Not surprisingly wood-fired ceramics are deeply rooted in Japanese aesthetics. They are an example of artisanal tradition and the idealized beauty of nature - just like a bonsai.
