Alex & the EBPC Potters!
Eddie Curtis, England.
A magnificent kifu sized oval with an organic textured and patterned finish, made by the highly acclaimed studio potter, Eddie Curtis.
Born from a love of bonsai, and a lifetime mastering studio pottery, this kifu sized oval was expertly formed and exudes character. The pot is both impressive and engaging, yet the discreet patterns are organic in their texture and the warm toasty tones are subdued in their nature, so as not to overpower a tree.
The decorous pattern in relief, arranged around a central bead of copper red glaze, whispers to the traditional Japanese Kikkō Hanabishi / hexagonal tortoise shell pattern. The variety of methods the artist used to create the varied textural effects, and the range of traditional glazes, including celadon, shino and copper red, give this admirable piece a tactile and very natural look.
A rare fusion of masterful studio and bonsai pottery.
Stamped by the artist and with the EBPC logo.
External measurements: 25.7cm (l) x 20.7cm (w) x 6.8cm (h).
