Amdouni Bonsai Pot - Waves

A round shohin pot, with magnificent relief carving to the body, and celadon glazed finish.

This gracefully formed pot has a classic design, yet is decorated with wonderful relief carvings. A crane like bird surveys the seas for food, just above the crest of powerful breaking wave. She seems to have spotted a small turtle paddling in calmer waters. Another great touch is that the wave flow continues under the pot, around a foot. The feet are also carved in a decorative design and the pot is glazed in a superb celadon glaze. The detail of the bird plumage and turtle are a delight!

Celadon is an ancient glaze from China that people have tried to emulate for years. Originally the translucent green was revered by Emperors who likened it to the most precious of stones, Jade.
