Ikkou (Kazuhiro Watanabe), Tokoname
A round vintage pot made by one of the true old greats of Tokoname - Kazuhiro Watanabe - aka ‘Ikkou’.
A refined stoneware pot, so refined, it has the feel of porcelain. The pot has a classical formal design with excellent attention to detail. Slight lip to the rim, thin walls and delicate carved details including the beautiful feet. There is a basal band in relief and the pot is finished in a clean shiro (white) glaze, with a restrained yellow/brown to some areas, especially at the banding detail, enhancing the aged aesthetic.
A charming and unique piece, signed in sometsuke by the artist.
External measurements: 12.7cm x 5.6cm
